My Life in 250 Words
I was born in L.A. and lived in lots of states with oil fields. (BTW, I’m not really strangling a puppy in this photo.) When I was eight we lived on a ranch in Montana, where my school had one room for grades K-8.
When I was nine we moved to the Southern Oregon coast, where I did the rest of my growing up. I worked in the public library in high school, which was not a very productive job for me…I seemed to get lost in the stacks reading book flaps.

I worked in bookstores starting at age thirteen. In my early twenties I became the Children’s Book Buyer at the U of O Bookstore in Eugene – I got paid to buy books! When I lived in Portland I worked at Powell’s and even had a small bookstore of my own in the suburbs.
My husband, two daughters and I ended up in Sacramento, where over the years I’ve worked in administrative jobs, took care of my family and written whenever I could. We are foodies – we love to eat out. And travel. We have a kitty named Stinky Pete, a ferocious hunter who preys on pipe cleaners.

My favorite movies are Nacho Libre, Johnny English, Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility. I like to either laugh or swoon…crying or screaming: me no likey.
Besides writing, I like to try to grow things, take pictures of interesting stuff and dabble in collage and other visual arts.
That’s a wee bit about me – my story is still unfolding. It’s easy to see where I’ve been, but I’m still figuring out where I’m going.
